Parel and I had a few videocalls where we discussed about our ideas and the theory we engaged with
Inspired by Javiers class:
It starts with a movement, the object or shape didn't matter it was about the performative part.
Parel first made some scans of herself with a variety of techniques. Although they were really good we decided to go for the app Display.land which offers the option to make a very detailed 3D-Landscape
Welcoming hands, 2006 by Louise Bourgeouis
10 is when you come to me by Louise Bourgeouis
10 am is When You Come to Me is a multipart work, consisting of twenty hand-painted sheets of musical score paper depicting the hands of the artist and those of her assistant Jerry Gorovoy. The artist’s hands are discerned by her wedding ring. Bourgeois’s and Gorovoy’s hands, painted in various shades of red and pink or outlined in black, adopt a number of poses. Sometimes only Bourgeois or Gorovoy’s hands are represented, at others they reach across toward each other or meet. The etching in the top left corner depicts a clock, with hands set at 10 am. The hands of the clock are composed of a nude male and female figure, with the nude male in the place of the minute hand and the nude female in the place of the hour hand.
Originally we wanted to create our legend by the recorded hand movements made to watch the scans of your own body, as some sort of performance. Hands being proportional to the body. Inspired by the work of Louise Bourgeouis as seen from above.

After the midterm talk we took into account the given critique from the teachers and decided to use the voice instead of the hand movements. To keep the whole process and story as a whole.
The voice is recorded and sounds as if it is placed in the virtual space where the scans are, the voice speaks our written audio essay. Below you can hear the audio essay.

Sammie: very personal to ask feelings about non-binary. Implement their thoughts into it as well, anxious to ask about this to not break their boundaries.

Add too many layers to a complex map, can stay between us two. Use the found concept in the artists that inspire us. That look for the concepts that have to populate that

Scanning is another source, how do you make it visual.
Create a safe space, personal mapping that visualizes a wall, you are involving thinkers and ideas that come to you and are new to you.

Sammie made scans of her own body with the app Display.land, these scans are also implemented in the final map.
Sammie and Parel both individually joined the protest of anti-black violence in US and EU in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
The Powerplay document containts a lot of notes, thoughts and references during the whole project. It is part of the written out research. Due to us both being Dutch it is sometimes the more common language to write and react onto each other
